Nestled in the heart of Downtown Fort Lauderdale across from Huizenga Plaza and the New River, NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale has become one of South Florida’s leading cultural attractions. The Museum’s celebrated permanent collection contains more than 6,000 works. Among its highlights is the country’s largest collection of 19th and early 20th century paintings and drawings by the American realist William Glackens, the most extensive holding in the U.S. of works by post-World War II, avant-garde CoBrA artists from Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam, and extensive holdings of works by leading Latin American artists.
There are several facilities within the Museum, including an expansive auditorium and a beautiful terrace that can be rented for special occasions such as rehearsal dinners, weddings, anniversary parties, or Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. The Museum also supports education of the arts within the community, with programs such as Museum on the Move that introduces Broward County students to arts through STEAM-based principles and hands-on art activities.
