Indulge in new beginnings at The District this January! Kick off 2016 by resolving to experience new forms of art and entertainment, and possibly learn something new along the way. Following are just a few of the refreshing events happening this month at The District:

Begin the new year with delicious food from various restaurants, specialty cocktails, house tours, and live entertainment at Historic Stranahan House Museum’s Holiday Hangover event on Thursday, Jan. 7 from 6–9 p.m. Each guest receives a chance to win a 25-person private party at the Historic Stranahan House Museum. $25 per person. On Sunday, Jan. 10 from 10:30 a.m.–8 p.m. at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, be a part of an intriguing screening of and discussion about “QB VII,” the 1974 mini-series drama of a Nazi war crime trial and winner of six Primetime Emmys®. Enjoy a discussion with its legendary producer Douglas S. Cramer and star Juliet Mills. $12 per person, includes Museum admission. RSVP to or 954-262-0204.

Experience an “aca-perfect” all-new live concert event, “Vocalosity,” on Sunday, Jan. 17, 6 p.m. at the Parker Playhouse. From the creative mind of artistic producer Deke Sharon (“Pitch Perfect,” “The Sing-Off”), the concert features 12 dynamic voices singing some of today’s chart-topping hits in brand-new arrangements. $35.50–$55.50 per ticket.

Relax and enjoy the soothing sounds of Lynn University String Quartet during the Thursday, Jan. 21 Concert Under the Stars at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens. This unique concert will take place from 7–9 p.m. on the Bonnet House Estate with wine, dessert and coffee included. The evening’s activities happen in and around the house, with the concert taking place on the veranda beneath the moon and stars. $40–$45 per person. Be a part of history! On Saturday, Jan. 23 from 2–4 p.m., join the Centennial Storytelling at Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, New River Inn. This free event is an open invitation to digitize your historical photos, news clippings or mementos and add them with your story to the historical record of Broward County.
