GILBERTO SANTA ROSA

Affectionately known as the Gentleman of Salsa, Gilberto Santa Rosa is one of the most celebrated Latin music vocalists in the world for his musical elegance and style. With the ASCAP Latin Heritage Award, six Grammy Awards, four Latin Grammys and, most recently, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Necesito un Bolero, he has the most #1 hits on Billboard’s Tropical Albums Chart (with 12 in total!). Santa Rosa’s style of salsa has consistently entertained crowds since the 1980s with his energetic personality, vocal improvisational skills and refreshing sense of humor. Santa Rosa brings his tantalizing Latin flavors to our stage with salsa and bolero top hits such as “Que Alguien Me Diga” and “Por Más Que Intento.” His latest album, “En Buena Compañía,” is an eclectic mix of Santa Rosa’s romantic style with harder-edge salsa. Noted for being the first salsa artist invited to perform at Carnegie Hall, he was recently honored in an HBO Latino special on his 40 years in music. He is El Caballero de la Salsa!

Norma

Bel Canto Masterpiece Norma to be Presented by Florida Grand Opera

Norma is perhaps the opera that best exemplifies the great bel canto style and Bellini’s most successful composition.

Set in Roman occupied Gaul, the Druid priestess Norma has consorted with the enemy, the Roman leader Pollione, and has secretly borne him children. But his interests have shifted to Adalgisa, one of the temple virgins, and passions flare. Norma is driven to murderous jealousy by her lover’s infidelity and sees to it that the guilty atone for their crimes.

This opera has its scenes of pageantry and moments of ringing grandeur, but it by far rises to its greatest lyrical heights in the celebrated aria, “Casta diva.” The spectacular conclusion ofNorma has been called one of the finest things in all musico-dramatic literature.

The four permanent members’ mastery of authentic vintage instruments coupled with spot-on vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, plus their compelling stage persona and distinct Led Zeppelin sound, merge with astounding visual imagery to recreate the music, magic, and mystery of a Zeppelin concert.
