Panel Discussion 'Research and Development: Concerning Belonging'

Enjoy this panel discussion with artists Rick Ulysse, Natasha Lopez de Victoria, Agustina Woodgate and Antonia Wright, who are part of the museum’s new “Research and Development” residency program. The program provides South Florida artists with essential time and resources for research and exploring new directions in their work. Throughout the summer, the artists will have temporary studios in the museum’s second floor galleries, where they will create works addressing issues of issues of homelessness and belonging.

The 2014 Season Blue Star Museums Kicks Off!

Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, Historic Stranahan House Museum, Fort Lauderdale Historical Society and NSU Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale

A collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America, Blue Star Museums offer free admission to the nation’s service members, including the National Guard and Reserve and their families, from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2014. The program provides families an opportunity to enjoy the nation’s cultural heritage or learn more about their new communities after completing a military move.

Guided Tours of the Historic Stranahan House Museum

Learn about Fort Lauderdale’s founding through a visit to this enchanting beautifully preserved home. Learn about the birth of this community through the lives of two extraordinary people and the homestead they created, which to this day serves as an enduring legacy for historic preservation. No reservations required.

Three 1-hour tours per day beginning at 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

Las Olas Art Fair

Bold and vibrant paintings, contemporary and whimsical art, life-size sculptures, photography and jewelry are among the original works of art that transform Las Olas Boulevard into an outdoor art gallery three times a year. The Las Olas Art Fairs ranked among the top art festivals in the country by Sunshine Artist magazine. These premier juried shows are highly anticipated by locals and tourists alike for the vast array of art on display and for sale. Admission is free.

Family Day: Building Tolerance through Art

View the history of the Civil Rights Movement through the lens of photographer Bob Adelman. Explore the Civil Rights Movement through movement and literary activities, create your own black & white collage tolerance poster, enjoy story time with guest librarians from the Broward County Main Library at 12:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. and view the Disney film “Ruby Bridges” in the Auditorium at 1 p.m. Free and open to the public.
