Riverwalk A&E District Partners Give Dads the Gift of Culture on Father’s Day and Throughout June

While a new tie or wristwatch are great gifts for dads on Father’s Day, the gift of cultural experiences will last a lifetime. Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment (A&E) District partners are presenting special offers and activities in honor of all dads on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, and throughout June.

On Sunday, June 16 from 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is offering dads free admission with one paid admission, giving them the opportunity to step back in time and experience life as it was in the 1930s and 1940s. The entire family can enjoying touring the house museum, filled with a delightful collection of art and personal treasures from the Bartlett/Birch families, as well as explore the nature trails filled with native plants, trees and an occasional monkey or swan. Throughout the month of June, the Historic Stranahan House Museum celebrates Frank Stranahan as the Father of Fort Lauderdale. As a well-respected and fair businessman, Frank helped to transform the tiny New River Settlement into the growing City of Fort Lauderdale.

Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale is offering an array of cultural activities for dads and their families in June. These include:

  • Family Day – Fun with Keith Haring on Sunday, June 2 from 12–4 p.m.
  • Exhibition opening of Who Am I to You? on Saturday, June 22 from 8–10 p.m.
  • Film Series, What Remains: The Life and Work of Sally Mann on Wednesday, June 26, 3 p.m.
  • Up Close and Personal with Icon of Musical Theater Avery Sommers on Friday, June 28, 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 29, 10 a.m.–noon

Fort Lauderdale Historical Society is presenting intriguing programs about local history for dads and their families in June. These include:

  • Second Monday Speaker Series with local historian/storyteller Wayne Rogers on Monday, June 10, 6 p.m. Lecture, 5:30 p.m. Potluck Dinner
  • Seminole Stories, Camera-man: The Seminole Through the Lens of Julian Dimock featuring John Moga, curator of exhibits, Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, on Wednesday, June 19, 6:30 p.m.
