December brings many wonderful memory-making moments, and at Riverwalk A&E Fort Lauderdale, these moments are just waiting to be enjoyed! From the festive Holiday Magic Evening Experience at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, to “Legally Blonde” at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, there are many special things to do in Fort Lauderdale this month. Ideal for locals and visitors, The District’s December lineup of activities presents spectacular ways to enjoy the holidays! Following is a sample of what’s happening this month:

For those who want to experience a luxurious hotel stay and much more, The District’s “Stay, Play & Ride” package, available Dec. 1, 2018–Sept. 30, 2019, is a wonderful option. Including a stay at the Riverside Hotel, admission to the city of Fort Lauderdale’s most exciting cultural attractions, meals, shopping offers and fun-filled ways to easily navigate the city, this package has it all.

Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is even more magical than usual during the holidays, and especially during its Holiday Magic Evening Experience, taking place every evening from Saturday, Dec. 1–Friday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. These evening tours include events ― including Santa and his elves, strolling carolers, specialty lighted grounds, Christmas storytelling, and much more ― throughout the week. During this week, guests can enjoy live performances by South Florida Pride Jazz Band, Broward Center Spotlights, The Singing Sons, First Presbyterian Children’s Choir, Steel Away, Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida, and The Yuletide Carolers. $15–$20, adults; $5, children aged 6–12; free for children under 6.

Providing a much-needed break the hustle and bustle of holiday time is NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale’s Creativity Exploration: Form and Breath on Saturday, Dec. 8 from noon–1:30 p.m. Attendees will investigate techniques in contemporary soft sculpture and sewing, and create an original soft sculptural form using fabric, as special attention is paid to touch and breath. Reservations required. $10–$15 per person.

Broward Center for the Performing Arts will set the scene for “Legally Blonde,” presented by Slow Burn Theater Co., Thursday, Dec. 13–Sunday, Dec. 30. During matinee and evening performances, this fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the movie follows the adventures of Elle Woods. $47–$60 per ticket.

The Historic Stranahan House Museum will offer special holiday evenings with its Victorian Christmas and Holiday River Tours, Sunday, Dec. 16–Sunday, Dec. 23 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy an evening tour of Fort Lauderdale’s oldest home featuring beautiful holiday décor, with costumed tour guides, live music, photo opportunities and more! Advance registration is required. $30 per person; includes house tour and boat ride.

Featuring unique interpretations of holiday hits, Rockapella will perform its “A Rockapella Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. at Parker Playhouse. Attendees will enjoy unique takes on classic favorites, brand-new originals and more, perfect for all ages. $37–$47 per ticket.
