While we celebrate the birthday of our wonderful country in July, the Riverwalk A&E District Fort Lauderdale is reveling with fantastic events and activities! From specials for July 4 and Cool Saturday at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, to PAW Patrol Live! at Broward Center for the Performing Arts, to the New River Marketplace along the Riverwalk at History Fort Lauderdale, there is something for everyone, whether they are locals or visitors. There are so many things to do in Fort Lauderdale this month, so be sure to peruse The District’s July calendar of events. Here are a few of July’s exciting happenings:

Take a trip back in time with daily guided tours of Historic Stranahan House Museum throughout July, offered at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Knowledgeable docents will guide you through the home, which is the oldest surviving structure in Broward County, as well as the history of Fort Lauderdale pioneers Frank and Ivy Stranahan. $12 per adult, $11 per senior, $7 per student.
If art is your passion, then NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale is home to two new exhibits: William J. Glackens: “From Pencil to Paint,” featuring over 100 works from the 1890s–1930s; and “Remember to React II: Drawings and Prints from the NSU Art Museum Collection,” comprised of over 50 works from its permanent collection with an emphasis on women artists, as well as works representative of the current global art world. On view throughout July. Free–$12, general admission.
On both Wednesday, July 4 and Saturday, July 6, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is giving visitors an even better reason to visit: July 4 and Cool Saturdays specials! On these days only in July, guests will enjoy the delightful house and lush gardens for the discounted price of $10 for adults, free for children 12 & under. Tickets available at the door.
Kiddos will love “PAW Patrol Live! Race to the Rescue,” on stage at Broward Center for the Performing Arts Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21 ― during 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. shows. Everybody’s favorite heroic pups race to the rescue on the day of the Great Adventure Bay Race. $19–$69 per ticket.
Enjoy a blast from the past on Friday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m., when John Cusack takes the stage for A Live Conversation with John Cusack and a Screening of “Say Anything” at Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The event includes a screening of “Say Anything,” followed by a live conversation regarding Cusack’s career and the making of “Say Anything.” $39–$69 per ticket.
Set along the banks of the New River under the shade of live oaks, the New River Marketplace at History Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, July 27 from 7 a.m.–1 p.m. will be a true delight. Attendees will enjoy more than 52 vendors offering a selection of original art, antiques, furnishings, collectables, clothing, jewelry and more. Also featured will be specialty plants including orchids and succulents, plus organic products; gourmet bites and beverages from food trucks, live music and a tattoo artist. Free admission.
