Heartfelt Events Enchant The District this February

During a month when love is in the air, Riverwalk A&E Fort Lauderdale is enticing local residents and South Florida visitors alike to enjoy its engaging events ― perfect for making lovely memories. From a romantic Concert Under the Stars at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens to “A Well-Strung Valentine” singing quartet at Parker Playhouse, there is so much to cherish with loved ones at The District in February. Peruse all of February’s events, and read on for a sampling of what’s in store this month.

Admiring exceptional art is a wonderful activity to enjoy with someone special, and the “Emerging Young African-American Artists” exhibition ― on view at History Fort Lauderdale Monday, Feb. 4–Thursday, Feb. 28 from noon–4 p.m. weekdays and 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m. weekends― presents some delightful pieces. Dillard Center for the Arts’ emerging young African-American artists will showcase their works. Free with museum admission.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, a lovely “Tea & Opera” event will take place at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. A traditional afternoon tea at 2:30 p.m. will be followed by a performance of the FGO Studio at 3:30 p.m. A special focus will be on the artists of the Mexican Revolution. Limited space, advance paid reservations required for tea. $35–$40 for Tea, free for Opera.

A night featuring the hunky and talented all-male singing string quartet, Well-Strung, will take place at Parker Playhouse on Thursday, Feb. 14, 8 p.m. during “A Well-Strung Valentine.” With its signature pop-classical mashups, the group will celebrate Valentine’s Day in style. $33–$73 per ticket.

The musical phenomenon “Jekyll & Hyde,” presented by Slow Burn Theater Co. at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts through Sunday, Feb. 17, presents a delightful outing with that someone special. It’s an intriguing tale of two men and two women, both women in love with the same man and unaware of his dark secret.  Matinee and evening performances ― $47–$60 per ticket.

A relaxing evening of American jazz favorites with the Michael Masci Trio will overtake the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens magnificent estate, during the Thursday, Feb. 21, 6:30–8 p.m. Concert Under the Stars. Guests will enjoy complimentary wine and cheese. Starting at $45 per person.

At Historic Stranahan House Museum on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2 p.m., guests will enjoy traditional tea party fare in celebration of Ivy Stranahan’s birthday. The Victorian High Tea with Frank and Ivy Stranahan will include complimentary house tours of the Historic Stranahan House Museum. Hats are encouraged. Reservations required. $30 per person.

Those looking for a delightful getaway can indulge in The District’s “Stay, Play & Ride” package, available now through Sept. 30, 2019. The package includes a stay at the Riverside Hotel, admission to the city of Fort Lauderdale’s incredible cultural attractions, meals, shopping offers and great ways to easily navigate the city.
