Join local historian Roberto Fernández III for a guided tour of Fort Lauderdale’s historic black cemetery, Woodlawn, the only burial grounds available for people of color in the City of Fort Lauderdale through the 1960s. Much history and controversy surrounds this iconic place of rest. Recent research indicates that a portion of the cemetery presently lies beneath Interstate 95 at Sunrise Blvd. Get your tickets, bring your water bottle, and come experience how history and genealogy play a key role in the development of every new community!
