OPENING RECEPTION | HUMAN ANIMALS: THE ART OF COBRA

Featuring works from NSU Art Museum’s celebrated Golda and Meyer Marks Cobra Collection, the largest Cobra collection in America, this new exhibition explores the innovative use of animal imagery by Cobra artists including Pierre Alechinsky, Karel Appel, Asger Jorn and others. On view July 9 – October 8, 2017.

Human Animals: The Art of Cobra is organized by NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale and guest curated by Karen Kurczynski, Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where the exhibition had its premiere at the University Museum of Contemporary Art from September through November 2016.

This exhibition was generously made possible in part by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Linda J. Marks, and Stephen R. Marks and the David and Francie Horvitz Family Foundation, Wells Fargo, Danish Consulate, and The Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York as part of the Dutch Culture USA program.
