First up, Concerto Barocco, a signature George Balanchine ballet, set to Bach’s glorious Double Violin Concerto in D Minor. Then, back in the rep after nearly ten years, comes that great audience favorite Company B, a Paul Taylor work set to popular 40s hits like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “Rum and Coca-Cola” sung by the Andrews Sisters. And finally, Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.2 is a thrilling masterpiece that pays homage to the spirit and grandeur of imperial St. Petersburg. Balanchine described it as a contemporary tribute to Petipa, the father of classical ballet, and to Tchaikovsky, his greatest composer.
