The 136th birthday of Fort Lauderdale’s Matriarch and Historical Society Foundress Ivy Cromartie Stranahan will be celebrated as a kick-off to Women’s History Month. The luncheon will be served at History Museum Fort Lauderdale, and include short presentations on Ivy’s remarkable contributions to our city and region. Ivy arrived in Fort Lauderdale from Lemon City (now North Miami) to be the first schoolteacher in a one-room school house in 1899. A full-size replica of Ivy’s 1899 schoolhouse is part of the museum’s campus of buildings. Sponsorships are available. Seating is limited.
