History Happy Hour: The Civic Activism of Ivy Stranahan

Combine your love of history with a glass of featured wine at the Historic Stranahan House Museum’s History Happy Hour. Join local historian and Broward County Schools educator Michelle Sammartino for a deep dive into the civic and social activism of Fort Lauderdale’s first lady, Ivy Stranahan. Learn how Ivy challenged the status quo by fighting for the rights of women, African Americans and Native Americans during the early 20th century. Also, hear about the role she played in the creation of numerous Fort Lauderdale organizations such as the Fort Lauderdale Women’s Club, Audubon Society, Red Cross and more. Complimentary light bites, wine and museum tours are included. Advance registration is requested.
