Spring Fun is Abloom at The District in March!

As spring begins, refresh and rejuvenate in March with limitless cultural opportunities at the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District. From a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party to “The Future of Well-Being” with Deepak Chopra, The District is presenting invigorating events, perfect for Fort Lauderdale visitors and local residents alike. Following are just a few ways to recharge in The District this month:

Beautiful art, cocktails, delectable fare and more … what better way is there to kick off the month? At Bonnet House Museum & Gardens’ Making New Impressions: A Juried Art Competition, Art Sale and Cocktail Party on Thursday, March 3 at 6 p.m., guests will enjoy interactive food stations with unique alcohol pairings, a full bar, a tour of the upstairs private living quarters, exotic floral arrangements, music and art from various perspectives, both traditional and avant-garde. $75 per ticket. The “Impressions 2016” exhibition will be on view through May 1, 2016.

Don’t be late for a very important date: the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at the Historic Stranahan House Museum on Saturday, March 5 at 11 a.m.! Join Alice and her friends, and wear your most festive hat while enjoying sandwiches and sweet treats. $25 for adults; $15 for children aged 12 and under. RSVP required.

On Sunday, March 6 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., celebrate Archeology Month at the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society during “Archeology on the New River.” Free and open to the public, this event will feature intergenerational opportunities to experience the art and science of studying the past along the archeologically designated zones on the New River.

Explore the photographic work of acclaimed American artist Chuck Close at the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale’s “Chuck Close Photographs” opening reception on Saturday, March 19 from 6–8 p.m. The exhibition features 91 images from 1964–present and includes everything from early black and white maquettes to monumental composite Polaroids to intimately scaled daguerreotypes and recent Polaroid nudes. Free for Museum members; $15 for non-members. RSVP required.

Kick off spring with Deepak Chopra and “The Future of Well-Being” on Saturday, March 19, 8 p.m. at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. A best-selling author, physician and world-renowned mind-body healing pioneer, Chopra is changing the way the world views physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social wellness. $45–$150 per ticket.
