Passion runs deep in both Vincenzo Bellini’s opera “Norma” and exquisite wines. With the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District’s “Amore with Norma” promotion, opera and wine lovers can experience this passion at a greatly reduced rate, during a lovely night out at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Feb. 11 and 13.
Participants will enjoy a wine tasting, featuring two wines from the same grape variety, with Broward Center Arts Ambassador and James Beard Award-winning wine authority Lyn Farmer at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ stylish Intermezzo Lounge. Farmer will illustrate how a “sense of place” impacts a wine, and explore how different productions of the same opera can be very different.
The tastings will be presented immediately before Florida Grand Opera’s 7:30 p.m. performances of “Norma,” the opera that best exemplifies the great bel canto style and stands as Bellini’s most successful composition. The Intermezzo Lounge opens one hour prior to the performance (6:30 p.m.) and the wine tasting will begin at 7 p.m.
This very limited offer is nearly 30 percent off the normal retail cost, and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Packages start as low as $32 per person, with many price options available (ticket fees apply). As a tribute to the evening, the Intermezzo Lounge will also offer delicious appetizers, as well as other wines, beer and sodas, coffees and desserts. Top-shelf drinks are served for $5. The Intermezzo Lounge is open to guests who have purchased the package, beginning one hour prior to the performance and during intermission.

Beat the traffic and get the most out of each performance by attending Florida Grand Opera’s Pre-Opera Lectures with the witty and captivating Justin Moss, as he tells the inside story of each opera. These opera previews begin one hour before the performance in the theater. In addition, opt to stay after this performance for an informative Q&A session hosted by Florida Grand Opera’s General Director and CEO Susan T. Danis and members of the senior artistic and production staff. Ask questions about the opera and get behind the scenes insight about how the production came together. This free event will be an open forum to ask questions and be a part of the discussion.
Experience “amore” at its best – with The District’s “Amore with Norma” package.
