Discover the newly-opened exhibition Against the Grain: Wood in Contemporary Art, Craft and Design with curator Dr. Lowery Stokes Sims as your guide. Illuminating the processes, concepts and approaches showcased in the exhibition, Dr. Stokes Sims will reveal the distinct role of wood in contemporary creation. Dr. Stokes Sims is curator at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. From 2000-2007, she was president and curator of the Studio Museum in Harlem, and from 1972-1999, was on the educational and curatorial staff of the Modern Art Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has been a frequent contributor to such periodicals as Artforum and Arts Magazine. Free with Museum admission. Galleries open at 5:00 PM.
