From Laughs to Lively Escapes, The District is Buzzing in April!

If you need to “break out” from the everyday, then the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District is the perfect place to explore in April! From unending laughs with star comedienne Paula Poundstone, to the Escape to The District package including the exciting Flummox’d Escape Rooms, The District is offering exhilarating events and activities this month. Whether you’re a local or visiting the beautiful city of Fort Lauderdale, following are just a few of the fun-filled events to enjoy:

From April 1–Sept. 30, experience the newest wave of entertainment, Flummox’d Escape Rooms, plus much more with the Escape to The District package for only $32 per person. Combine live-action puzzles, riddles, and physical tasks, with the goal to solve the room’s secrets in order to escape during this 60-minute interactive game. Plus, enjoy free admission to the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, shop at the Historical Society’s gift shop and receive 10 percent off your purchases, and indulge in a delicious lunch or dinner at PizzaCraft Artisan Pizzeria at a 15 percent discount!

Relax on the grounds of the beautiful historic estate at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens during the Thursday, April 7 Concert Under the Stars at 7 p.m. Take in the soothing sounds of the Florida Grand Opera Young Artists while you enjoy wine, cookies and coffee. This is the final concert of the season, so don’t miss it!

World-renowned comedienne Paula Poundstone comes to the Parker Playhouse on April 10 at 7 p.m. A regular on HBO, Bravo and Comedy Central; a published author, a popular NPR game show panelist and the voice of several cartoon characters — Poundstone has won an Emmy and an American Comedy Award for Best Female Stand-up Comic. Plus, she was recognized on Comedy Central’s 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time.

Free and open to the public, the lecture “Stranahan House to Scale” will be presented by Anthony Abbate, AIA, NCARB on Monday, April 18 at 11 a.m. at Historic Stranahan House Museum. Abbate will present some of his research on historical and contemporary sustainable design and construction practices in the hot-humid zones of the tropics and subtropics.

Delight in English High Tea in the Museum Café followed by “Bellissima: Italy’s Beautiful Music,” performed by Florida Grand Opera Young Artists at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday, April 19. The tea and opera will take place from 2:30–4:30 p.m., and for those enjoying the opera only, the performance will begin at 3:30 p.m. Reservations required.
