The summer schedule of programs and events include:

Viva Florida 500 Best in Show Series, June 20 – November 3, 2013

Experience a variety of works inspired by Florida’s 500th anniversary from our veryown Bonnet House Fine Artists. All exhibitions will take place at the newly opened Gallery 928 in Fort Lauderdale. The series will include five exhibitions with opening receptions as follows: June 20, July 25, August 29 and October 3 from 6 – 8pm.  All opening receptions will include wine and canapés and are free and open to the public. Gallery 928 is located at 928 NE 20th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale 33304.

Cool Saturdays Summer Special at Bonnet House

Start your summer at half the price at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens. Saturdays are cool at Bonnet House beginning Saturday, July 6 through Saturday, September 21 on the first and third Saturdays of the month. The schedule is as follows: July 6 & 20, August 3 & 17 and September 7 & 21 from 9a – 4pm with the last tour beginning at 3:30pm.  Adults are $10 and children 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the Welcome Center prior to your tour.

Orchid Care Classes

  • Orchid Repotting – July 13, 10am – 12pm and 1:30pm – 3:30pm,
  • Mounting Orchids, An Alternative to Pots – August 10, 10am – 12pm and 1:30pm – 3:30pm and
  • Orchid Pest & Disease Control – September 28, 10am – 12pm and 1:30pm – 3:30pm.
    • Join Bonnet House Orchid Curators, Sandy Jones and Tom Wells in the historic Bonnet House gardens for classes on Orchid Repotting, Orchid Mounting and Diagnosing Orchid Pests and Diseases. For most of its inhabited history, the New River has been difficult to access. Tropical foliage and the Everglades made traveling south over land slow and tedious. When the first Florida East Coast train arrived at the north bank of the New River in 1896, Fort Lauderdale finally had a reliable, efficient connection to the rest of the country. For nearly 50 years, Fort Lauderdale’s FEC Passenger Station – once situated directly across from the New River Inn – welcomed tens of thousands of people to Fort Lauderdale.
