Join Nova Southeastern University’s Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale for the official kickoff to Fort Lauderdale’s 4th Annual Day of the Dead Celebration. You will better understand the Mexican Day of the Dead with the lecture Sugar Skulls and Skeletons by Dr. Barbara Brodman, professor of Latin American & Caribbean/International Studies at Nova Southeastern University, at 1 p.m. View the film Frida at 3 p.m. Puppet Network’s teaching artists will engage families in an exciting Miniature Parade Float and Day of the Dead paper figurine workshop from 2–6 p.m. The traditional Skeleton Processional will line up in Huizenga Park across the street from the Museum of Art at 6 p.m. and begin marching west at 6:15 p.m., crossing the Riverfront and ending at the Revolution Live Entertainment Complex. Mariachi, giant puppets, costumed revelers and miniature floats all bring together – a memory for the dead and a party for the living! $10 per person, includes museum admission. Free for museum members. Please RSVP to Adrienne Chadwick at firstname.lastname@example.org or (954) 262-0241.
