If it’s opera and wine that tickle your fancy, then The District’s “Amore with Norma” promotion is the perfect idea for a romantic night out. The promotion features your choice of seating for Florida Grand Opera’s “Norma,” on stage at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Thursday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 13; plus a ticket to the Broward Center’s Intermezzo Lounge, and a wine tasting led by acclaimed wine expert and James Beard Award-winning journalist Lyn Farmer. This limited package is available only through Riverwalkae.com to The District’s email and social media followers at a nearly 30 percent savings from purchasing individually.

Free and open to the public, the Friday, Feb. 5 (5:30 p.m.) and Saturday, Feb. 6 (5 p.m.) Native Reel Cinema Fest, presented by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Seminole Paradise and the Historic Stranahan Museum, showcases Native American talent through film. It presents a free screening of Steven Paul Judd’s film “Ronnie Bo Dean” starring Wes Studi and an interactive session with the director.

Opening Sunday, Feb. 7 at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, the exhibition “Bellissima: Italy and High Fashion 1945–1968” traces the development of Italian high fashion and explores the important role Italy played in its international success.

Celebrate African American Heritage Month through the lecture “Art of the Highwaymen: African American Landscape Painters,” presented by art historian Gary Monroe at the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, New River Inn on Monday, Feb. 8.

Ah … the romance of an evening under the stars listening to the University of Miami Frost Opera Theater. On Thursday, Feb. 11, relax with beautiful music, wine, dessert and coffee at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens’ Concert Under the Stars, taking place on the Bonnet House’s serene veranda.

Passions flare in “Norma,” the opera that best exemplifies the great bel canto style and is Bellini’s most successful composition. On Thursday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m., witness this renowned opera, performed by Florida Grand Opera, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

From Thursday, Feb. 11 through Sunday, March 6, visit the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for the Off-Broadway sensation “Romance/Romance,” two feisty, frothy and fun two-act musicals that reveal how danger and illusion can spark the fiery flames of attraction.

Show your love for all things cultural — and perhaps that special person in your life — in February at The District!
