It may be time to start “ringing” out the old, but at The District, we do so in great style and with much flair! December is a time for gathering with family and friends and celebrating the moment. What better way to do so than at Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk A&E District, where the magic of the holidays is intertwined with unique experiences that will create precious lasting memories. If you have never enjoyed a night at the opera, then Georges Bizet’s masterpiece “Carmen” is the one to consider. With tickets starting at just $21, this fiery piece will captivate your soul and whet your appetite for future dips in the classical pool. For family time, nothing can beat Cookies with Santa at Historic Stranahan House or a magical Winter Solstice Boat Cruise along the New River, narrated by History Fort Lauderdale docents. You can also bring the kids to the NSU Art Museum for its monthly First Thursday Starry Nights, which are free and open to all.

There is so much to choose from this December. We invite you to check out the events we have selected for you below or visit for many more. May the joy and peace of the holidays be yours throughout the coming new year!

Broadway Concert Series: Gavin Creel
hosted by Seth Rudetsky

Parker Playhouse
Hilarious, musically gifted, and endlessly entertaining, Gavin Creel is a force of nature. He received the 2014 Olivier Award for his starring role as Elder Price in “The Book of Mormon,” as well as two Tony Award® nominations for “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “Hair.” His next role is Cornelius in the upcoming production of “Hello, Dolly!” starring Bette Midler, but you can see him here first with Seth Rudetsky as these two irrepressible friends shoot the breeze, dish the dirt, and raise the roof with classic Broadway songs. The Florida Grand Opera Young Artists performed during Tea & Opera at the NSU Art Museum. Their selections from “The Life and Love of a Woman: Music for Voice by Women Composers” brought together the artistry of female music composers with that of women artists as featured in The Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz Collection at the Art Museum. Check out the calendar for future events similar to these.
