Fort Lauderdale is not only a fun-filled sunny destination, but also a wonderful place to enjoy Broadway shows! Thanks to Bank of America Broadway in Fort Lauderdale, a stay in Greater Fort Lauderdale could also include taking in a spectacular show at Riverwalk A&E partner Broward Center for the Performing Arts, conveniently located in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

From brand-new productions to extraordinary revivals to spectacular music, the 2015–2016 Bank of America Broadway in Fort Lauderdale subscription season offers something for every taste. The season includes six unforgettable shows (shows can also be purchased individually.)

“Once,” playing Oct. 6–18, 2015, is the winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards®, including Best Musical. This intriguing modern-day musical stage adaptation based on the 2007 film of the same name tells the story of a Dublin street musician who’s about to give up on his dream, when a beautiful young woman takes a sudden interest in his haunting love songs. “Once” features an impressive ensemble of actor/musicians who play their own instruments onstage.

On stage Nov. 17–29, 2015, Disney’s “Newsies” is a fast-paced, feel-good musical for the whole family. Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this show features jaw-dropping choreography and catchy songs by Oscar® winner Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast,” “The Little Mermaid”). It’s the winner of the 2012 Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Choreography.

Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday tale comes to life on stage with “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical,” playing Dec. 15–27, 2015. Originally conceived by the three-time Tony Award®-winning director Jack O’Brien, the musical features hit songs such as “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas.” It tells the story of how The Grinch discovers there’s more to Christmas then he what bargained for. Max the Dog narrates.

Winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, “Kinky Boots,” at the Broward Center March 1–13, 2016, features music by Tony and GRAMMY®-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper. The musical features a book by Tony-winning theater legend Harvey Fierstein and direction and choreography by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell. It tells the story of Charlie Price, who inherits his father’s shoe factory. This high-spirited story about finding friendship, inspiration and passion where you least expect it demonstrates that you can change the world when you change your mind.

Playing April 12–24, 2016, “Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage” tells the story of how 17-year-old Frances “Baby” Houseman learns some major life lessons, as well as a thing or two about dancing, during the summer of 1963. This timeless story features hit songs including “Hungry Eyes,” “Hey! Baby,” “Do You Love Me?” and the heart-stopping “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.”

At the Broward Center May 10–22, 2016, “BEAUTIFUL: The Carole King Musical” tells the inspiring true story of Carole King’s amazing rise to stardom. It showcases her journey from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history.

The series is presented by Bank of America in partnership with Broadway Across America and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in association with Florida Theatrical Association.
