Cultural Happy Hour

The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, Nova Southeastern University is offering South Floridians the chance to unwind, take in some fascinating culture, socialize with friends, and perhaps enjoy a glass of wine following the workday with its “Cultural Happy Hour.” The event offers $4 off regular adult admission to the major exhibition Vatican Splendors: A Journey through Faith and Art after 3 p.m., is valid through April 14, 2011.

On Thursdays, the exhibition is open until 8 p.m., allowing patrons to take their time to relax and peruse its nearly 200 objects. The Museum offers for purchase a wide selection of beers and two-for-one wine specials including Castronovo Vineyards’ Montepulciano D’Abruzzo – The Official Wine of the Museum’s Vatican Splendors exhibition. Illy coffees as well as delicious light fare in the new Museum Café are available for purchase.

Wine Tasting: The Rhone Rangers

Longtime advocate and supporter of the arts in South Florida, Lin Arison discusses and signs her book “Feast of the Senses” at Books & Books in the Museum lobby. Free and open to the public.

Panel Discussion: The Cultural Influences of the Vatican

The Catholic Church is the oldest institution in the Western World. Moderated by Jamie Manburg, PhD, a panel composed of Nova Southeastern University scholars, including Glenn Scheyd, Mark Cavanaugh and David Spangler, explores the Catholic Church’s influences on science, psychology, anthropology and the history of art. Tickets are $10 for members; $15 for non-members. A reception featuring light fare, fine wine and convivial conversation follows at 7 PM for an additional fee of $20 per person.
