Women’s International Film Festival comes to Broward County this year! Opening night at Broward Center on March 30th features Latin Divas USA. Be part of the exciting, a star studded, red carpet kick off to the 6th Annual Women’s International Film & Arts Festival at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Directed by acclaimed local filmmaker, Adriana Boche “Latin Music USA: Divas and Superstars” is film which focuses on the Latin Pop explosion of the turn of the century and the success of artists like Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan and Shakira in the English-language market. As studios concentrate on star-driven Pop, Latino youth gravitate toward urban fusions – Spanish Rap and Reggaetón, as well as Rock en Español. VIP ticket includes a preshow reception at 6:30 pm.
The City of Fort Lauderdale will hold a celebration (Centennial RiverFest) honoring the City’s 100th birthday on March 27, 2011 on the banks of the New River from Huizenga Plaza to the City’s Esplanade Park. The festivities will begin at Noon and continue until 5 PM in the Historic District and at Esplanade Park. Centennial RiverFest will have cars from every decade along the river as well as motorcycles from the ages. There will be tours of the Fort Lauderdale History Center, acoustic music, barbershop music, lemonade stand, free walking tour of the neighborhood as well as activities the kids will enjoy; all honoring the history of our wonderful city’s Centennial. The celebration at Huizenga Plaza will continue until 8 PM.
